Motiv Ring Android OS Open Beta

Updated 1 week ago by Loren Earle-Cruickshanks

Motiv Ring is now offering a limited Open Beta version of the Motiv App for Android, available on the Google Play store starting February 28. This is a limited feature beta release, and will not be full feature compared to the iOS app version.  An open beta will allow testing among an extremely wide user base likely to bring to light obscure errors that a much smaller testing team might not find. Because this is a beta app, you may encounter bugs or glitches early on.

Android Open Beta Program Details:

The following features will be available immediately:

  • Step and activity tracking for walking and running; daily overview
  • Sleep tracking; daily overview
  • Resting Heart Rate tracking; daily overview
  • Resting Heart Rate details
  • Last Heart Rate

Not Initially Available via the Open Beta app:

The beta version of the Android app will not immediately (1) allow you to view or edit individual activities, and sleep detail, or (2) track restlessness during sleep, or (3) track Active Minutes goals. We will provide frequent and regular app updates that add features and fix issues throughout this program, with these features listed all being available by the end of June.

Users who choose to switch from an iOS device and pair their ring to the Android app will also not be able to view historical data in the Motiv App at the start of the open beta, but will be able to do so as features develop. If you have been using the Motiv Ring on an iOS device, please create a new account to use with the Android Beta app to avoid data import issues.

Supported Devices:

The Motiv App will also not be compatible with all phone models that use Android OS during the open beta period. The beta app will only work with the following phones:

  • HTC Google Pixel
  • HTC Google Pixel 2
  • LG Google Pixel 2 XL
  • Samsung Galaxy 7
  • Samsung Galaxy 8
  • Samsung Galaxy 8+
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5

New features for the free Motiv App for Android OS will be added on a consistent basis as part of the open beta program and they will come at no additional cost to users who purchase a ring.

During this beta program, support will be available via email only, and at times you may need to wait for an app update to solve the issue you are experiencing.  We appreciate your patience.
